Facility Manager (5/15/24)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an individual to be responsible for:

1) Food management for warehouse and Food Mart (free food for the public), including coordinating food pickup and deliveries and maintaining safe food handling and storage protocols.

2) Safety, including maintaining supplies of safety and sanitation equipment, orienting and training staff on safety and cleaning supplies, safety procedures, and use of safety equipment

3) Training and supervising staff on program equipment, such as cardboard baler, mechanical pallet lift, floor scale

4) Managing building and mechanical issues, such as equipment failure, snow removal/de-icing, plumbing, electrical outlets, alarms, etc., by arranging necessary services with vendors/contractors. Managing service contracts for major equipment such as kitchen hood/fire suppression system, grease trap, elevator, mechanical pallet lift

Requirements:

· Good training skills for training staff and volunteers on equipment and procedures

· Facility with using mechanical equipment

· Good management and supervisory skills to direct volunteers and staff

· Knowledge of food safety handling and storage protocols desirable. Must complete the Greater Boston Food Bank Pantry Food Safety class as soon as it is offered after hire date

· Basic safety, CPR and First Aid training desirable. BOL will provide paid training opportunity after hire date if needed.

· Good cleaning and organizing skills with attention to detail

· Ability to interact well with others, being respectful and courteous, and presenting BOL to the public in a positive light.

· Drivers License

· Knowledge of a language in addition to English desirable but not required (such as Chinese, Haitian Creole, Nepalese, Portuguese, Spanish, or Vietnamese).

Pay: From $43,000.00 per year

Grocery Delivery Assistant (4/26/24

Job Overview: This individual will assist the Coordinator of the Grocery Delivery Program which delivers grocery orders to senior citizens, disabled residents and COVID-isolating families as needed, up to once per week per household, Tuesday through Friday.

Hours: 15 hrs per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 12-5 pm. Friday, once per month, additional 4 hrs: 12-4 pm

Duties:
1) Assist volunteers to package grocery orders.

2) Act as lead supervisor of volunteers on behalf of the Coordinator when the Coordinator is unavailable.

3) Create delivery lists for delivery drivers (Tuesdays) using MS Word and/or Excel and work with database as directed by the Coordinator.

4) Work with volunteers to maintain cleanliness and order in the grocery delivery rooms.

5) Deliver grocery orders to individuals and housing developments as needed.

Competencies:
1) Ability to work well with volunteers, be respectful and courteous, and present BOL in a positive light to volunteers, patrons and our community partners/referral sources.

2) Collaboration skills – be a team player

3) MS Word and Excel and database experience preferred

4) Be able to lift 25 to 35 pound boxes

5) Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive

6) Ability to speak Cantonese, Haitian Creole, Portuguese or Spanish is desirable (optional)

Grocery Delivery Driver (3/29/24)

Job Overview: This individual will work part-time to assist the Coordinator of the Grocery Delivery Program to provide free grocery deliveries to low-income senior citizens, disabled residents and COVID-isolating families.

Hours: 15 hrs per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 12-5 pm. Friday, once per month, additional 4 hrs: 12-4 pm.

Duties: Deliver grocery orders to individuals and housing developments as needed, using the Bread of Life vehicle, usually a cargo van

Competencies:

1) Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive. No special license needed.

2) Ability to lift 25 to 35 pound boxes

3) Ability to climb stairs

4) Ability to speak English. Competency in Cantonese, Haitian Creole, Portuguese or Spanish is desirable although not required

5) Ability to work well with volunteers, be respectful and courteous, and present BOL in a positive light to volunteers, patrons and our community partners/referral sources.
